Anwaar Katakweba

Anwaar Katakweba is an Associate at ALN Tanzania | A&K Tanzania, specialising in dispute resolution, with a strong focus on commercial litigation, arbitration, mediation, and tax disputes. He represents clients in complex commercial disputes, tax appeals, and regulatory proceedings across multiple sectors, including construction, manufacturing, telecommunications, and financial services.

He has acted for a joint venture of Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric in mediation and arbitration proceedings involving claims of more than USD 5 million arising from the rehabilitation of the Kibiti‑Rufiji Road utilised in the construction of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant, and for ZTE Corporation in ADR proceedings initiated by Tanzania Telecommunication Corporation involving claims of more than USD 2 million. He also acted for Meteplan International Limited in civil claims against mining companies, securing a successful ADR settlement of more than USD 1 million. He has represented various clients, including Equity Bank Tanzania, Aspen/Shelys Pharmaceutical Limited, Tanzania Portland Cement, and Gateway Gaming, in tax appeals before the Tax Appeal Tribunal. He has also advised on trademark infringement, counterfeit goods, and customs and freight‑related disputes.

Anwaar holds an LL.B from Mzumbe University (2018) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania (2020). He is a member of the Tanganyika Law Society and the East African Law Society.
