Yassin M. Maka

Yassin M. Maka is the Head of Litigation at ALN Tanzania | A&K Tanzania, specialising in dispute resolution. He is a seasoned litigator with over 8 years of experience in commercial litigation, banking and finance disputes, construction and infrastructure disputes, energy and mining litigation, shipping and trade disputes, and competition and regulatory matters. He regularly advises multinational corporations, financial institutions, and private clients on high‑value contentious matters and risk management, and has represented clients before the Court of Appeal of Tanzania, the High Court of Tanzania (including its Commercial, Land, Labour and Probate Divisions), and specialised tribunals.

He has acted for Metito Overseas Limited in complex commercial and arbitration‑related disputes involving recovery and enforcement of bank guarantees, successfully challenging injunctive orders to enable enforcement and recovery actions. He has represented NCBA in secured asset recovery litigation and Alios Finance Tanzania Limited in receivership and asset recovery proceedings. He has acted for Kamaka Company Limited, Lodhia Industries Limited, and Total Med Tanzania Limited in shipping and trade disputes involving cargo claims and bills of lading, and for various employers in labour disputes before the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration and the Labour Court. He has also managed cross‑border enforcement proceedings, competition and regulatory matters before the Fair Competition Commission and Fair Competition Tribunal, and conducted litigation due diligence for a proposed billion‑dollar financing transaction for CRDB Bank. His practice covers arbitration, debt recovery, insolvency, construction and infrastructure disputes, public procurement appeals, fraud investigations, and real estate litigation.

Yassin holds an LL.B from Saint Augustine University of Tanzania (2015), a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania (2017), and is a certified member of the Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, a Notary Public, and a Commissioner for Oaths. He is a member of the Tanganyika Law Society and the East African Law Society.
