Audax Kameja

Audax Kameja is a Senior Consultant in Bowmans' Dar es Salaam office, specialising in commercial litigation, arbitration, and intellectual property law. He has particular expertise in corporate restructuring, banking and commercial dispute resolution, and has been involved in a wide range of regulatory matters, including local and international arbitration proceedings for public utilities and other facilities built through public-private finance initiatives.

He has represented the Government of Tanzania and TANESCO in high‑profile international arbitration proceedings, including a dispute pertaining to a 100MW power purchase agreement at the International Centre for Settlement of International Disputes (ICSID) in London, and has acted for the Ministry of Works in commercial arbitration proceedings under the European Development Fund Rules of Arbitration. He has also represented the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) in enforcement proceedings in the Southern District of New York, and Dar es Salaam Water Supply and Sewage Authority (DAWASA) in UNCITRAL arbitration. He has advised on trade mark and copyright disputes for major international clients including SWIFT (in relation to the PAYSWIFT mark), Viacom International, Glaxo Group, and the Scotch Whisky Association. He has also advised on the restructuring of Meridien Biao Bank (Tanzania) Ltd and the establishment of the Kilwa Ammonium Development Project.

Audax holds an LL.M from the University of Glasgow and an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is a member of the Tanganyika Law Society and the East African Law Society.
