Barbara Mawalla

Barbara Mawalla is an Associate in the Dar es Salaam office, practicing in the firm's Employment Law practice. She advises on employment, real estate, immigration, insurance, regulatory, corporate, banking and finance, telecommunications, mining, and oil and gas matters.

She has advised Black Rock Mining Limited on employment matters and represented the company before the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration, advised Stanbic Bank Tanzania on disciplinary procedures and risk mitigation, and advised an international oil and gas company on digital investigations compliance with employment and data protection laws. She has also advised on real estate transactions, including land acquisition for major infrastructure projects such as the Tanzania-Zambia Railway upgrade, port terminal concessions, and data centre development, as well as immigration matters and PPP guidelines for the World Bank.

Barbara holds an LL.B. from Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and a member of the Tanganyika Law Society and the East Africa Law Society.
