Evarist Kameja

Evarist Kameja is a Senior Associate at Bowmans in Dar es Salaam, specialising in energy law, oil and gas, environmental law, and corporate and commercial law (including intellectual property). He advises clients on transactional matters, court litigation, international commercial arbitration, and public international law affecting Tanzania.

He has been part of the team advising a major multi-national mining company on regulatory matters arising from recent changes to Tanzanian mining law, and has advised an international financial services company on a USD 5 million Tanzanian law corporate guarantee to a major energy trading and transportation conglomerate. He has also acted for the buyer of a five-star hotel and associated franchise rights, conducted due diligence on a major telecommunications tower company acquisition, and advised numerous high‑profile international investors on setting up companies in Tanzania across manufacturing, financial services, construction, shipping, and oil and gas industries. He has also advised on intellectual property matters, including acting for a major global conglomerate in a passing‑off claim in Tanzania.

He holds an LL.M (Oil and Gas Laws with Professional Skills) from the University of Aberdeen, an LL.B (Honours) from the University of Kent, UK, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania. He is a member of the Tanganyika Law Society and the Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration.
