Catherine Mokiri

Catherine Mokiri is an Associate at Bowmans in Dar es Salaam, specialising in tax advisory law. She advises clients on transfer pricing, value added tax, and tax dispute resolution, representing clients before the Tax Revenue Appeals Board, Tax Revenue Appeals Tribunal, and the Court of Appeal. She also provides legal opinions on transactional tax matters, tax administration, and compliance, and has experience in tax due diligence and settlement negotiations with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).

She has advised and represented brewery and beverage companies, leading tobacco and tea companies, telecommunication companies, mining and oil and gas exploration companies, tourist companies, and major banks in Tanzania on a wide range of tax disputes and compliance matters. She also reviews commercial agreements and advises on potential tax exposures, and provides recommendations on legislative compliance.

Catherine holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Revenue Law and Administration, a Post‑Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania, and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Dar es Salaam. She is a member of the Tanganyika Law Society and the East African Law Society.
