Eliya Nkerebuka

Eliya Nkerebuka is a Senior Tax Manager in the Dar es Salaam office, practicing in the firm's Tax Advisory Law practice. He advises local and foreign multinational companies across sectors including telecom, energy, mining, hospitality, oil and gas, banking, and education on tax-efficient strategies, direct and indirect tax consequences of business transactions, and permanent establishment risks.

Prior to joining Clyde & Co, he worked for EY Tanzania and was seconded to the tax department in EY Kenya (Nairobi) office. He has led tax advisory and controversy teams at one of the Big Four accounting firms, and has successfully defended clients against tax assessments, withholding tax impositions, and double tax treaty disputes. He has advised on multiple mergers, acquisitions, corporate reorganisations, and joint ventures, and has led tax advisory teams in reviewing framework agreements and financial models of mining companies during negotiations with the Government of Tanzania.

Eliya holds an LLB and an LLM from the University of Dar es Salaam, and is a duly registered tax consultant and advocate. He is a member of the Tanganyika Law Society and the East African Law Society.
