Dr. Alex Thomas Nguluma

Dr. Alex Thomas Nguluma is the Managing Partner of REX Advocates, with over 35 years of experience as a business legal consultant in both Zanzibar and Mainland Tanzania. He heads the Corporate, Tax and Insurance Legal Services Department, specialising in tax and corporate advisory, tax and commercial litigation, commercial arbitration, liquidations and receivership. He has handled important cases in the mining, telecommunications, banking, and manufacturing sectors with values ranging from USD 61 million to USD 149 million.

He gained his strength in tax law while working for PwC Tanzania for 9 years, ending up as Associate Director and Head of Legal Department. He has also had a successful 13‑year teaching career at the Law Faculty, University of Dar es Salaam, and 16 years of experience in legal and business consultancy. He is held in high regard by courts, clients, and peers, and is an expert on legislative and regulatory reviews. He has been ranked as a Leading Lawyer by Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500.
