Edward Williams

Edward Williams is a Director at ALN Tanzania | A&K Tanzania, specialising in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate finance, private equity, and cross‑border transactions. He is an English‑qualified solicitor with over a decade of corporate finance experience on the African continent, advising on investments, fundraisings, financings, M&A, anti‑bribery and corruption, restructurings, and governance across the energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, fintech, media, music, entertainment, and sports sectors.

He has acted for Kobalt Capital in connection with the sale of its music fund assets for USD 1.1 billion to KKR, and for USD 325 million to Hipgnosis Songs Ltd. He has advised Universal Group on multiple acquisitions, including Hyperion Records and the audio‑visual catalogues of the band “Yes”, and acted for the sellers of Chandos Records to the owner of Naxos. He also advised African Infrastructure Investment Managers on multiple investments in IHS Holding Limited, Africa's leading mobile infrastructure company, with one investment round raising US$2.8 billion in equity and debt. He has advised on EDF's EUR 5.8 billion sale of its regulated UK businesses to Cheung Kong Infrastructure, and has worked extensively in the energy and infrastructure sectors across Africa, including advising on renewable energy projects and infrastructure development.

He holds a Legal Practice Course from BPP Law School, London (2007), a Graduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law, London (2006), and a BA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Dublin, Trinity College (2005). He is admitted as a Solicitor of the Law Society of England and Wales. He has spent time on secondment at Virgin Management Limited and EDF Energy (Networks) Limited.
