Shemane Amin

Shemane Amin is a Partner at A&K Tanzania, specialising in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate law, foreign investment, and regulatory compliance. She advises international and local clients on complex commercial transactions, including joint ventures, asset and share purchase acquisitions, disposals of businesses, and cross‑border investments across highly regulated Tanzanian sectors such as natural resources, insurance, financial services, and telecommunications. She is one of Tanzania’s few US-Tanzanian dual-qualified lawyers, admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Tanzania, and brings a commercially sensitive approach informed by her experience in legal and management roles across domestic and multinational companies.

She has acted for BHP Group on its investment through Kabanga Nickel in Tembo Nickel Corporation, advised Actis and Westmont Hospitality Group on the acquisition of hotel assets in Tanzania and Kenya, and acted for SilverCorp Metals Inc. on its acquisition of OreCorp. She has also advised New Forests Asset Management on the acquisition of Green Resources, Mastercard on its investment in Airtel Mobile Commerce, and DP World on its concession for the Dar es Salaam Port. Her practice spans corporate M&A, real estate, banking and finance, fintech, employment, and natural resources and infrastructure projects.

She holds a Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law (2011) and a B.A. from Duke University (2008), where she was a Robertson Scholar. She is a member of the Massachusetts Bar, the Tanganyika Law Society, and the East African Law Society.
